Players Supper and Awards
On Thursday 2nd March 2026 over one hundred players and team representatives enjoyed a fine supper and good company at the Club. M&Y, The Sea Lions, The Saints, The Social sides and The Priors and Saxons spokes people got up between courses and reported on their season and events. At the end of the evening centenary caps were presented to those that had played over one hundred games for The Saxons.
Charity Cycle To Sudbury
On a cold and wet Friday 27th March this intrepid group set off to ride to Sudbury for our next league game on Saturday. Organised by Nathan Strange
A message from our president
JOSH WARD – DIRECTOR OF RUGBY
It is with regret that I have to advise the Club that Josh Ward has decided that
he will not be renewing his contract with us which expires at the end of April
2026 and will be moving on to pastures green. We wish Josh all the best in his
new and future endeavours.
I would like to thank Josh on behalf of Southend RFC for his devotion to the
Club and for all his hard work both on and off the pitch over his 10 years at the
Club and especially during his 9 year spell as DOR.
Josh took up the DOR position at an extremely difficult time for the Club. Over
the years Josh has helped to stabilise the Club on the playing side and also with
initiatives in other areas.
In our most important and successful year 3 years ago Josh led the Saxons’
squad to achieve promotion with only 1 league defeat for the 1 st XV and also to
Twickenham where they won the Pappa John Cup for their division. The Priors
were also successful that same year in winning their league with only 1 defeat
and also their cup competition (albeit not at Twickenham).
Off the pitch Josh engendered an improved atmosphere and feel for the Club
which had been lacking in recent years. We are in a stronger and better
position in this respect for which we are grateful to Josh.
We wish Josh all the best and he will always be warmly welcome at the Club in
the future.
The Club Management Committee are actively pursuing the appointment of a
new DOR and we will keep members advised of developments in this respect.

President

New Website
An introduction to the new and improved club site.
If you are reading this then you have made it to the NEW Southend Rugby Club Website!
We’ve refreshed our online home to reflect the energy, ambition, and community spirit that makes Southend Rugby Club what it is today. This update isn’t just a facelift – it’s a step forward in how we connect with players, supporters, and the wider community.
Why the change?
Modernisation – Rugby is always evolving, and so are we. Our new website is built to be faster, easier to use, and accessible from any device.
Standing tall against local competition – With so many great clubs in the area, we want to make sure Southend Rugby stands out, not only on the pitch but also online.
Better team information – Fixtures, results, and updates are now easier to find, so you’ll always know what’s happening across all age groups and squads.
Social connections – We’re proud of our vibrant community, and the new site makes it simple to follow our latest news, photos, and videos across social channels.
Membership management – Join, renew, and stay connected with the club at the click of a button.
Faster to update – Our new platform allows us to keep everything fresh, relevant, and up to date, so you’re always in the loop.
Promoting grassroots rugby – At its heart, Southend Rugby is about encouraging more people to play, support, and love the game. Our new site helps us reach a larger audience and showcase everything we offer.
This is more than a website – it’s the digital clubhouse for Southend Rugby. Whether you’re a player, supporter, or someone new to the sport, we hope this makes it easier than ever to be part of our journey.
Now that we’ve shared why we made the change, let’s take a look at what’s new:
A new, more informative and inviting home page – Get the latest club news, fixtures, results, and events all in one easy to access place (simply click the logo to go home).
Improved navigation – Finding your team, match details, or membership info is now quicker and easier.
Dedicated team pages – Each squad has its own space, with fixtures, results, and updates tailored to them.
Integrated social feeds – See the best of our photos, videos, and matchday moments without leaving the site.
Online membership and payments – Join or renew in just a few clicks, with everything handled securely online.
Mobile-friendly design – Whether you’re at home or pitch-side, the site works seamlessly on your phone or tablet.
Regular updates – Thanks to our new platform, the website will stay fresh and up to date with the latest information.
This new site has been built to bring the club closer to our players, families, and supporters, while helping us welcome new people into the Southend Rugby community.
This new website is just the beginning of our journey to make Southend Rugby Club more accessible, connected, and welcoming for everyone
We’re dedicated to improving our digital services for our members and supporters, and your feedback is a big part of that. Let us know what you think of the new site, what’s working well, and what you’d like to see in the future. Together, we can make sure our digital clubhouse grows just as strong as the one we share on the pitch.
