UNDER 11s

The Under 11s rugby team takes young players another step forward in their rugby journey, with a strong emphasis on game understanding, physical development, and team cohesion. As players grow in confidence and ability, they experience a faster-paced, more physical version of the game that continues to build on core contact and tactical skills.

Training sessions are focused on developing structured gameplay, including rucks, mauls, scrums (non-contested), and lineouts (where permitted). Players are taught to support play effectively, recycle the ball quickly, and work together to retain possession and build attacking phases. Defensive drills help players understand how to press as a unit, make confident tackles, and cover space intelligently.

Communication on the pitch becomes more advanced, with players encouraged to organise themselves during open play, call for support, and make tactical decisions in real time. Coaches continue to nurture leadership qualities, helping players take more ownership of their roles within the team and make collective decisions on and off the field.

Safety remains a core focus. Coaches ensure that all contact elements are taught using correct techniques, appropriate progression, and regular reinforcement of safe play principles. Players are supported in developing physical confidence in a controlled, respectful environment, where teamwork and player welfare come first.

The Under 11s season offers a fantastic balance of challenge, growth, and fun. Players enjoy more structured matches, increased involvement across all positions, and opportunities to develop resilience, strategy, and team spirit. It’s a year of real progression — helping young athletes strengthen their rugby foundations while enjoying every moment of the game.
