It is with great sadness that we report the death of Peter Thomas
Pete joined Southend RFC in 1974 and started playing for the Colts team. He then moved into the senior side and quickly became a 1st team regular pick in the back row. Pete retired in 1985 due to serious illness but always supported SRFC.
Pete is one of only 2 people to have held the SRFC Presidents role twice for a total of 8 years.
He will be sadly missed.

Phil Reid’s funeral Update
Phil Reid Update
It is with great sadness that I report the death of club stalwart Phil Reid. He died away peacefully early Saturday morning. Phil was a well-known and respected 1st team player for the club in the 70’s who later went on to become a well known and respected referee. He also coached the youngsters and for the past few years has turned out weekly for the Tuesday working party.
He will be missed by many.
His funeral will be held at 1pm on Friday the 1st August at Southend Crematorium
The family invite you to drinks and buffet at SRFC after the ceremony.
