UNDER 7s

The Under 7s rugby team marks the exciting transition from play-based learning to the introduction of Tag Rugby, a non-contact version of the game that begins to build core rugby skills in a fun and structured way.

Training sessions focus on developing fundamental abilities such as running, evasion, passing, and catching, while also introducing the concept of tagging as a safe and engaging way to simulate tackling. Children learn how to wear and use tag belts, how to tag opponents safely, and how to respond when tagged, laying the groundwork for future contact rugby.

Team communication becomes more important at this stage. Players are encouraged to call for the ball, listen to teammates, and work together during activities and mini-matches. Coaches support players in developing their confidence to speak up, make decisions on the field, and understand the importance of sharing and supporting others.

Safety remains a top priority. All sessions are delivered by qualified coaches using age-appropriate equipment and methods. The emphasis is on creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child feels safe to try new things, make mistakes, and grow.

The Under 7s season is full of fun, games, and friendly fixtures with other local teams. Children start to experience the joy of working as a team, learning about sportsmanship, and building early game awareness, all while continuing to have fun and develop a passion for rugby.
