UNDER 13s
The Under 13s rugby team marks the official transition into the junior game, where players take on the full 13-a-side format for the first time. This is a key stage in a young player’s rugby journey, combining all the skills developed in previous years with a greater emphasis on game understanding, positional play, and team strategy.
Training is focused on developing core contact skills—tackling, rucking, mauling, and scrummaging (6-player contested scrums with limited pushing)—while reinforcing secure handling under pressure. More technical elements are introduced, including tactical kicking from hand, uncontested lineouts without lifting, and game management. Players are expected to build positional awareness and understand how to contribute effectively to both attack and defence within a structured team system.
Communication and leadership become critical at this level. Players are encouraged to take initiative, organise the team on the field, and work together to implement game plans. They begin to read the game more deeply, adapting tactics based on opposition strengths and weaknesses, and communicating effectively under pressure.
Player safety remains at the forefront. As contact becomes more frequent and physical, coaches place strong emphasis on correct technique, controlled aggression, and respect for opponents. All sessions are planned to be progressive, inclusive, and supportive of individual development within a team environment.
The Under 13s season is packed with challenging matches, local competitions, and festival opportunities, offering players the chance to experience the excitement of full-format rugby. This is a year of significant growth—on and off the pitch—as players develop greater physicality, discipline, and teamwork, all while enjoying the spirit, values, and camaraderie that make rugby such a rewarding sport.

“Would recommend these guys over and over again!!! Done re-tiling in the bathroom and replaced all kitchen worktops and realigned the cupboards. We could not be more impressed with the work standards of all the staff at the company and I've never had a building company leave our house so clean.
Thank you so much”
