Armitage staying on!

So around Christmas time we started announcing a number of players who would be staying on with us after signing new contracts - well - we never quite got all of those finished off so we are getting that done as we speak.

Today sees us announce that Joel Armitage will be with us for the foreseeable future after well and truly settling in at the Bridge. After completing his second season at Warner’s Bridge, and having by far his best season with us to date, Armitage is still only 25, with his best years still ahead of him, looks set to develop further after winning both the Player’s Player of the year and the player of the year awards earlier this month.
Here is what Josh Ward had to say on the good news, "securing Joel for the next three seasons is brilliant news! His performance levels over the past year have been outstanding, his condition has also improved dramatically which is testament to his hard work. Securing not only coaches player of the season but also being voted by his peers as player’s player of the season speaks volumes of how important he is to our group. He’s a crowd favourite and someone who is going to play a pivotal role for us going forwards, I’m delighted.”

Armitage had this to say on his new contract, “I’m really happy to be re-signing for Southend. I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far and I’m excited to spend the upcoming seasons with a great group of people at this club. Hopefully being able to build on what we’ve been doing the last couple of years and take the club back to where it belongs. Southend is a great club off the field and the members and support for the squad is excellent”.

We will be bringing you more news as and when it develops - this whole COVID-19 situation is really making business hard to conclude. We hope that you are all bearing up well, your families and friends are safe and the tedium of lockdown isn't getting too much. Stay home, protect the NHS and Save lives!

As always, if anyone wants to look to support the club through sponsorship, help with work or accommodation for players joining the club or any other form of support, please reach out to Andy Speed to discuss.
