UPDATE:
Nathan and Ally successfully completed their Charity Climb and came back with suntans and altitude sickness having spent five days getting to the top of Kilimanjaro, at 20,000 feet the highest stand alone mountain in Africa. The two days it took to come down completed the hardest seven days of their lives.
Their sterling effort raised over £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, so a big thank you for all those that donated (you still can) and a 'well done fellas' to both of them.

ORIGINAL
In Jan 2009 Nathan Strange & Ally Gavin both from Southend Rugby Club, are climbing Killimanjaro in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Both have lost members of their families to cancer and Macmillan have supported on both occassions. The trek takes place on 30th January 2009 and lasts for 12 days. Standing at 5,896m, approx. 20,000 ft, Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world. 'Our path, following the Machame Route, takes us from the base of this huge dormant volcano, over moorland, rocky trails and scree to the glaciers at the summit. Long days of trekking, tough terrain and the ever increasing altitude combine to make this the ultimate physical and mental challenge, but the spectacular ice cliffs and breathtaking views across the Maasai plains, together with the knowledge that you are supporting people with cancer with every step will be our reward'. Said Nathan Strange
This is no walk in the park but a 12 day trek up the worlds highest free standing mountain, the highest mountain in Africa. The boys have already started training and climbed Ben Nevis (UK's highest mountain) 2 months ago (see picture).
