Southend romp to victory
Saturdays warm up game against Esher from National 1 resulted in a runaway win for Southend from National 2. Playing at home in front of small but appreciative crowd of supporters Southend turn on the style and romped away from their bewildered opposition.
With five unanswered try’s in the first half Southend led 31 – 0 and followed up with a further 3 try’s in the second half to win 50 – 0. Esher probably regret not sending a stronger side against their lower ranked opposition and paid the price.
Southend on the other hand played exceptionally well with the hard work of the coaches during the close season coming to fruition. Particularly satisfying was the defensive work that denied Esher even a sniff at the try line.
A strong determined pack with quick inventive backs combined impressively to run in some fine try’s.
If that was not enough Southends 2nd team the Priors ran out 29 – 0 winners against Esher’s 3rd’s, cementing the squads successful day.
Southend look forward to This Saturdays visit from London Scottish
