Southend home and Cleare!
The first game Southend played on the 30th August 2008, against Chinnor RFC went Southends way with an accomplished and confident display from the 1st team squad members representing the club. A first half of inventive and stylish play resulted in 2 try's from Danny Cleare, one from Tyson Lewis and one from Jono Barton. With three conversions from Andrew Frost, Southend finished the first half 26 - 7 up.
Danny Cleare completed his hat trick in the second half and with Luke Sloane adding another try and Frost a further conversion Southend finished a comfortable 38 - 12 up
